In the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) workshop conducted as part of the Global Space and Technology convention 2022, WILLERS representative Mr. Alan Quek (General Manager, Global Business Development) shared about the relevancy of GNSS on autonomous vehicles.
WILLERS currently operates autonomous vehicles in Gardens by the Bay (since October 2019) and Jurong Lake Gardens (since December 2020) in Singapore, on top of trials under varying conditions in multiple prefectures such as Keihanna Science City, Tokyo Toshima ward, Nagoya Aichi Prefecture and Tottori city in Japan.
In this workshop, Mr. Alan Quek explains about the role GNSS plays, as one of the key enabler for an autonomous vehicle to operate safely. He explains about the GNSS functions and corrections, together with the part it plays to complement other components to enable a lane-level positional accuracy when a vehicle moves about in autonomous mode safely while avoiding collisions with other vehicles, obstacles and pedestrians.
In this workshop, the latest on-demand AI routing service by the name "mobi" starting since end 2021 was also shared. Plying around Orchard-Newton-Robertson Quay-River Valley area and available for booking via app, WILLERS said exciting plans to gradually roll out on-demand autonomous shuttle especially in car-lite towns to contribute towards providing greener and more sustainable transportation solution in the near future can be expected.
